Once again, Fall has announced itself; but not as you may expect with the leaves changing color and falling, or the calendar marking September 22nd. It has been announced mostly by an onslaught of Facebook posts about pumpkin and apple recipes.
The “takeover” even started in August when (for me) the temps were still in the 100s with not even a hint of cool air. Since then, the mornings have actually been a bit chilly and we can once again enjoy eating outside during the delightful cooler evenings. It won’t be long before it’s chilly enough for bonfires. As I type this, they are predicting 65 degree temps for a low, and then temps in the 80s for next week. Definitely Fall weather for us in the Southwest.
In honor of the cooler weather, my thirteen-year-old working his first season at Marana Pumpkin Patch, and the heralding of my favorite time of the year; I wanted to give away two gluten free mixes from Breads from Anna.
Breads from Anna Giveaway
Breads from Anna was started by Anna Sobaski who has Celiac (as well as type-1 diabetes). According to her website, she wanted to offer mixes that were both gluten free, as well as nutritious. She succeeded, and her company offers a plethora of gluten free mixes (mostly bread mixes, though not exclusively). All the products from Breads from Anna are also certified non-GMO and Kosher.
I have decided to give away their pumpkin bread mix as well as her apple pancake and muffin mix. These mixes are free from yeast, corn, dairy, soy, nuts, and rice.
According to the Breads from Anna site, their pumpkin bread mix “is made with a mix of bean and chia flours which are a good source of protein, fiber, iron, and other beneficial vitamins and minerals.” The mix will yield one large loaf or 24 muffins.
The ingredients are: organic unrefined cane sugar, tapioca starch, arrowroot, millet flour, maple sugar, potato starch, chia flour, chickpea flour, pinto bean flour, navy bean flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon, xanthan gum*, sea salt, ginger, clove, and nutmeg.
*Note: Their xanthan gum has been DNA tested to confirm it is free of corn and soy.
The apple pancake and muffin mix yields approximately 16 pancakes or 24 muffins, and can be made egg free.
The ingredients in this mix are: organic unrefined cane sugar, tapioca starch, arrowroot, millet flour, potato starch, pinto bean flour, navy bean flour, chia flour, chickpea flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, apple fiber, xanthan gum*, sea salt, and cinnamon
